Pet Policy

We are pet friendly and mean it! 

Wheat Creek Outpost welcomes dogs as part of your camping experience. To ensure the safety, comfort, and enjoyment of all guests and wildlife, the following policies apply:

Pets Allowed

• A maximum of two (2) dogs per reservation is permitted.

• A $25 per pet, per reservation, fee is required. This fee will be automatically included in your total when you select pets during the booking process. If pets are not selected at the time of booking but a guest arrives with one, the $25 per pet fee will be added to the reservation upon check-in. This fee is per reservation, not per day.

• Only well-behaved, non-aggressive dogs are allowed on the property. Management reserves the right to refuse service or ask guests to leave without refund if pets display aggressive or disruptive behavior.

Supervision & Control

• Dogs may not be left unattended in tents or tied up outside. Guests must bring pets with them when leaving the property, tent, or arrange for boarding services (not included).

• Off-leash activity is permitted only in areas away from main guest areas, and dogs must be under direct voice control at all times per Polk County Ordinance. 

• Leashes are required around other guests, tents, or pets.

• When introducing your dog to other dogs, please make sure to get consent from others and introduce them on leash to avoid a ruined first impression. 

• Dogs must not be allowed to free roam the property and must be supervised at all times. Other guests may not appreciate the visit as much as we do. 

Vaccinations & Health Requirements

• All dogs must be current on standard vaccinations, including Rabies, Bordetella, Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvovirus, Parainfluenza, and Leptospirosis.

• Dogs should be in good health and free from contagious conditions.

Cleanup & Property Care

• Guests are responsible for promptly cleaning up after their pets and disposing of waste. Bags will be provided.

• Dogs must not disturb the natural environment, wildlife, or other guests.

Wildlife & Sanctuary Considerations

• Wheat Creek Outpost is a registered wildlife sanctuary. Pets must be kept away from all wildlife.

• The chasing or harassing of wildlife by pets is strictly prohibited. Please keep pets under your control. 

Enforcement

• Non-compliance with this policy may result in removal from the property without refund.
